Open Gym is self-directed, independent training time where students and professionals can practice skills, train moves they’ve learned in class, condition, and work on creative projects.

You must have experience on the apparatus or in the discipline you wish to train, or currently be enrolled in a session with us, to attend an Open Gym. An Instructor is present to supervise training, but there is no instruction.

If you are not a student from our community yet, please introduce yourself by sending us an email with a quick summary of your experience (info@tricitycircus.com). For safety reasons, we reserve the right to refuse access for anyone who does not meet the requirements for safe independent training.

OPEN GYM POLICIES

Open Gyms are limited to ages 16+, or by consent of the instructor. Participants under the at of 16 who have been approved for Open Gyms must have a parent or legal guardian present.

An Instructor will be present during Open Gym, but there is no instruction. By participating, you agree that you are 100% responsible for your own safety while training. Please use good judgement and DO NOT ATTEMPT MOVES OR SKILLS YOU HAVE NOT LEARNED FROM A PROFESSIONAL COACH, or would require spotting.

All participants must display a reasonable level of competency in the discipline they are training or they will be asked to stop the activity immediately. Open Gym in not meant to replace regular classes/instruction.

You are welcome to use any of our equipment or apparatus that you have experience/training on (unless it is privately owned by a guest and not the property of TriCity Circus). This includes props such as yoga blocks, straps, balls, etc. Training must be done on our equipment — except for specific circumstances, we do not rig outside equipment in our studio for Open Gyms. If you would like to use you own equipment and have it, please email info@tricitycircus.com to discuss. A rigging fee will apply if the request is approved ($50 +HST to swap out an apparatus on an existing point).

Please supply your own training aids (eg. grip aids, tape, etc.)

Teaching of other participants is strictly prohibited. Participants who use this time to teach will be asked to leave immediately without a refund, and may be refused access to future Open Gyms.

If you are asked to cease an activity because it appears unsafe, please respect the decision of the instructor.

We work hard to maintain a positive, safe, supportive environment for everyone. Please be aware of your conduct and the energy you are bringing into the space. Dangerous or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.


GENERAL NOTES

Open Gyms are subject to the same Policies & Procedures as our other programming.
Please ensure that you are familiar with them.

All participants must fill out our Participant Package — even if they are only attending Open Gyms.
